Rasam(6months and above)
Rasam, is a traditional South Indian dish, prepared using tamarind juice as a base, with the addition of tomato, chili ,garlic, pepper, cumin and other spices .
Tamarind paste made from lemon sized ball
Pepper: 1 tsp
Cumin: 1/2 tsp
Garlic: 8 pods
Coriander leaf: as required
Red chillies 2nos
Turmeric 1/4 tsp
Curry leaves as required
Mustard: ¼ tbsp
Cumin: 1/2 tbsp
Salt as required.
○Grind pepper, cumin, garlic , red chillies until it's coarse. This is ready home made rasam instant powder.
○Now add little oil in a pan and heat it. Once hot, add mustard and cumin seeds and let it pop.
○Then add tomatoes and saute with tumeric and asefotida powder.
○Now pour the tamarind paste and let it boil for 5minutes.
○Now add the ground powder and let ot boil for 10minutes. Add the coriander leaves and curry leaves to get a rich aroma.
○Rasam is an appetizer, can be included in the diet of all age groups from above 6months old.
○if required little green gram or your dhal cooked can be added to the recepie to add flavour.
