Being a south Indian, I haven't tried rajma masala at home. But hubby is a fan of Rajma masala. I tried this easy recipe by Hebbars Kitchen. It's healthy and tasty.
🍛 rajma- 1 cup
🍛 bay leaf-1
🍛 black cardamom-1
🍛 salt-1 tsp
🍛 water-3 cups
🍛 ghee / clarified butter - 1 tsp
🍛 cumin / jeera
🍛 cinnamon- 1 inch
🍛 cloves- 5
🍛 onion finely chopped- 1
🍛 ginger garlic paste- 1 tsp
🍛 chilli slit- 1
🍛 tomato pulp- 2 cups
🍛 turmeric- ¼ tsp
🍛 kashmiri red chilli powder
🍛 coriander powder
🍛 cumin powder- ½ tsp
🍛 aamchur / dry mango powder- ½tsp
🍛 garam masala - ½ tsp
🍛 kasuri methi crushed
🍛 coriander finely chopped.
🍛 Take a pressure cooker and add soaked Rajma ( 4 hours ), cardamom, bay leaf, salt, and water. Let it cook for 3 whistles.
🍛 Take a large kadai heat 1 tbsp ghee and saute cumin, cinnamon, and cloves.
🍛 Now add onion, ginger garlic paste, chili and saute until the onions turn golden brown. then add 2 cup tomato pulp. cover and cook for 10 minutes, or until the oil is separated.
🍛 Now add turmeric, chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, amchur, garam masala, and salt. saute until the spices turn aromatic.
🍛 Now add in cooked rajma and mix well. cover and simmer for 15min.
🍛 now add crushed kasuri methi, coriander and mix well. serve hot with pulka, chapathi, roti and rice, etc.
