The plain boring white coconut chutney can be given some twist to make it tasty.

Ingredients to Grind

Coconut : 2 or 3 pieces

Roasted channa dal/ Phutana : 2 tbs

Red chillies: 2

Garlic : 2

Salt

For the tadka

Rai : 1/2 tsp

Split urad dal : 1/2 tsp

Curry leaves: 1 strand

Oil: 1 tbs

Method: Grind everything together without water first, Slowly add water. The chutney taste better when its more liquidy. Transfer it to the bowl, heat oil in a tadka pan add mustard, urad dal and curry leaves and let it splutter, add it to the chutney and mix.

Chutney Story: Itseems My husband's Naani ji use to make this but my MIL forgot this after coming to Mumbai. Few years back my husband's Maami visited us and made this chutney, My mil was in tears when she recollected this taste of her mother's chutney. Tab se I started doing this often . Authentic chutney for idli with tadka yumm infact yummy with menduvada 😛😋

I add some roasted peanuts too with it. And its a must have in our breakfast 😋
