Common known issues faced by most of the mums includes -
👉 Sore or cracked nipples
👉 Low milk supply
👉 No proper breastfeeding guidance
👉 Stitches pain and inability to hold the baby too long
🤱 It took me almost a month, to overcome all these issues and to develop a proper BF bond with my baby. The beautiful bond which lasts for 18 long months❣️
🤱 Weaning from the Liquid Gold💰#Myweaningjourney🛣️
It was around 17th month, when I decided to wean him off. The only reason i could think off at that point of time was 'that he was taking good amount of 3 meals a day'.
Eating well , playing well ,lets wean him off.
🤱 But how ? As a first time curious mother , I started reading other moms weaning stories. But trust me , nothing works😆
👉Here is my own summary :
I initially began with day time weaning🌞 which lasts around a week. Whenever he used to demand , I used to put him on my lap , cuddle him around my arms to calm him and peacefully explain him that "mummy dudu is now finished'. Or try to engage him in some kind of play #exploring around. Starting with 1-2 hours without feed then gradually increasing its no of hours⏳
Initially he used to cry to sleep but gradually he realizes that milk is actually finished. Toddlers gets smart by that age😎
After a week of successful day time off breastfeeding , I decided to call him off during night time too.
This took 3 stressfull nights. Whole night I used to keep him wrapped around my arms so that he sleeps well. Again crying out loud, turning and tossing are all what follows. By 4th night he was done , he slept most of the night without asking for the breast. Mission successful👍
I did it gradually but keenly.
Now I have exclusively breastfed my second baby for 6 months and hope to continue further more. That will be a different weaning story to narrate ✍️
Here are my views for new / nursing mothers :
👉 Breastfeeding is DEMAND & SUPPLY. The more baby sucks , the more the milk production. So DON'T GIVE UP . Let the baby sucks on you as much and as long as you can.
👉 Yes it takes time to establish proper milk supply. Mine took 1 month.
👉 If the baby is crying , that doesn't mean he is always hungry after BF. Rule out other reasons.
👉 Initially just look for weight gain and wet diapers. These are the indicators that baby is having enough milk.
👉Don't listen when people around you say 'baby is crying because you are not producing enough milk'🙅. Listen to your motherly instincts.
👉 Plan visits to lactation specialist till you are through with it. ✔️Proper guidance is the key✔️
🤱For Weaning mothers :
👉If you have started this lovely BF journey with your baby , keep it going till atleast 1 year. Can extend it beyond , will be great.
👉For me , BF used to be one stop solution for all type of cryings😁 , it was magical🔮
It seamlessly takes the baby to some other world where he feels most comfortable & secured.
👉Don't rush up things. Time will pass and you will only remember those golden days , that you have bonded with your baby🤱
