Ingredients for Hummus - SK Khazana Recipe

Chickpeas boiled 1 cup

White sesame seeds 1/4 cup

Garlic paste 1 1/2 tablespoons

Lemon juice 1 tablespoon

Salt to taste

Olive oil 4 tablespo

Pita bread 4 to serve

Butter 4 tablespoons

Red chilli powder to garnish

Fresh parsley sprig to garnish


Step 1

Heat a deep non-stick pan, add white sesame seeds and roast on low heat for 2-3 minutes, stirring continuously.

Step 2

Put chickpeas into a blender jar, add garlic paste, lemon juice and salt and blend to a fine medium thick paste. Remove into a bowl.

Step 3

Put roasted sesame seeds into another blender jar, add 4 tbsps olive oil and grind to a fine paste. Add 2-3 tbsps tahini paste to chickpeas paste and mix well.

Step 4

Heat a non-stick tawa, place the pita breads on it, apply 1 tbsp butter on both sides of each and cook on medium heat till golden brown on both sides.

Step 5

Transfer hummus into a serving bowl. Pour some olive oil over hummus, decorate with red chilli powder.

Step 6

Garnish hummus with parsley sprig and serve with pita breads.
