Ingredients ❤️ Ghugni matar/Yellow dried peas- 1 cup
Onion medium sized- 2 (sliced)
Tomato medium sized- 2 (chopped)
Turmeric powder- 1 pinch
Cumin powder- 1 tbsp
Garlic paste- 1/4tsp
Ginger paste- 1 tbsp
Sugar- 1 tsp
Salt to taste
Mustard oil- 4tsp
Garam masala powder- 1/4tsp
Black pepper powder- 1/2 tsp
Few slit green chillies
Lemon- 1/2 tsp
For tempering🧡
Bay leaf- 2
Whole dry red chili- 2 (broken)
Cumin seeds- ½ tsp
Method💛 💚Soak Ghugni motor/yellow dried peas in a generous amount of water for 4-5 hours. 💙Now add soaked yellow peas in a cooker with enough water. After 4-5 whistles check it. (Don't over cook) 💜Open the lid after pressure has reduced. ♥️Heat musterd oil in a deep frying pan. ❤️Now add the ingredients mentioned for tempering, saute for a few seconds. 🧡Add sliced onions, until light brown in color. Now add garlic paste. 💛Add chopped tomatoes, ginger paste, turmeric powder, cumin powder, and salt. 💚Fry until the spices starts leaving oil. 💙Add boiled yellow peas, green chilies and coriander leaves into this. 💜Mix well and cook for 10 minutes over medium heat. Now add some water into this if needed. Add suger. ♥️Check salt and mix garam masala powder (dalchini and ilaichi powder). Mix well and cook for 2 minutes more. Remove from heat.
Serve hot.
For Garnish❤️
garnish with fine chopped green chilies, coriander leaves & onion. drizzle of lemon juice or tamarind water on top. Add small & thin fried coconut pieces into Ghugni. Enjoy this delicious food!
