Bringing a child into the world is a unique experience for every woman, whether vaginal or Cesarean.

But there is a very common misconception about cesarean delivery. It is believed that c-section is easy, less painful, safer, and healthier than vaginal delivery.

🌼 I had a c-section with my son, although it was pre-planned due to some complications. One hour of blissful epidural. The c-section didn’t really feel like anything at all. I was well-numbed in the appropriate area, and while I could feel pokes, there was no sensation at all in the area of the surgery.

And then comes the worst part, my biggest nightmare till now:

THE RECOVERY PART: The recovery was fairly terrible. Immediately after, my legs were freezing, but I mostly couldn’t feel them for quite a while. And even once I started feeling them, they were terrible to walk on. For quite some time afterwards - we’re talking weeks - Peeing hurt. Sitting hurt. Standing hurt. Moving hurt. Sneezing hurt. Coughing hurt. Everything hurt.

It took me almost 40 days to get up from bed. I still remember those painful nights which I spent screaming.

Cannula, urinary catheter, drips....phewww 😭

Recovery for C-sect was long and tiresome. Even after 2 years it still hurts to do any abdominal exercises.

C-section has the potential for a much longer period of pain and recovery afterwards, whereas labouring will be a miserable day/couple of days, but you will be mostly done with it in a short period of time.

C-section is only recommended when the life of the mother or fetus is at risk.

However, today, C-section is perceived as an escape from labor pain, but I would not recommend c-section to anybody until or unless this is the last option.

Dear Moms, No matter what your birth plan was or how it turned out, don’t let anyone tell you that bringing a life into this world isn’t a big deal.

Always remember, no journey into motherhood is easy, and you’ve sailed through unique challenges that are not for the faint of heart.
