Hi mom star.. I am 9 weeks pregnant .. I have perigestational bleeding measure 6×2.6 mm. is it serious or it will cover up with time
shilpa
Heyyy....i have to knw...whats the supplements i have taken during this time..i have newly married nd first miscarriage had done...now i m again pregnent...what supplements is best nd when to start folic acid?
Dr. AMRITA MALLIK
Yes you are right Priya Sood common cold and cough is very frequent during monsoon season as well as in winters. Ofcourse antibiotics and antipyretics are the stay of treatment medically. But these diseases are mostly viral and take minimum a weak to get completely cured inspite of taking medications. And antibiotics are given only to prevent any superinfection. So in my opinion prevention is always better than cure.
And allopathy has no preventive measures other than the vaccines available for flu. But these viruses are very clever in changing their nuclear material, being resistant and become morphologically different from the attenuated microbes we introduce through vaccines to induce immunity. So its better to raise the body's active immune system which will be prepared to fight any type of viral infection on its own. For new borns breast feeding is the gaurding blanket from such infections.
And for toddlers, the tried and tested tip from ayurveda is tulsi ginger and honey.
8 to 10 tulsi leaves with half inch of ginger is to be crushed using a pestle and mortar. And then press the grind with clean bare hand to express the juice. To this juice 1 tbsp honey is added. This combination has to be taken early morning in empty stomach.
And another one is dried ginger powder and ghee mixed with steaming hot rice.
Practicing these 2 to 3 things on daily basis will keep common cold and flu away for long time. And even if it attacks, as children are constantly exposed to other kids at school who may be infected, their own immunity will be strong enought to tackle it amd get them out within 2 to 3 days at best.

Dear Richa, yes it is necessary to get the nuchal translucency scan. It is done towards the end of the first trimester i.e. 11 to 14 weeks. It is usually necessary for elderly primi - first time mothers at the age of 35 or above ; in case of a similar family history of either parents; and diabetic mothers. These tests are quite reliable as per clinical trials out of 10 cases they can detect 8 cases. Nowadays because of evidence based medicine practising culture, these tests have become very much necessary. If the test shows any abnormality then the pregnancy is to be terminated. So early detection helps to take a better decision.
Dr. AMRITA MALLIK
Shilpa, folic acid is to be started on the day u are confirmed about ur pregnancy. On the day u got a positive result on the upt card test.
Richa Rao
Thanks amrita,, I am not talking in any of these three categories-t is usually necessary for elderly primi - first time mothers at the age of 35 or above ; in case of a similar family history of either parents; and diabetic mothers.. still I she go for this test ?
Dr. AMRITA MALLIK
Richa it is okay not to gain weight in first trimester because of lack of appetite, nausea and vomitting. But you need to continue eating proper balanced diet. U can include ghee, jaggery, cashew nuts, almonds, raisin, green leafy vegetables, beetroot, eggs, lean meat in ur diet to help u gain weight.
Dr. AMRITA MALLIK
Richa as per our grandmothers papaya and pineapple should be avoided. But as per modern nutrition science there is no such evidence. U can eat and drink everything in moderation.

Good Afternoon, I am in my 5th week of pregnancy.. I heard from many that during 1st trisemester you are not supposed to have sex.. is it true.. plz advice
shilpa
Amrita g, but my gyn is not start folic acid i dontknw y? Can i start..my gyn start progestrone tab gestofit...due to my first abortions....is this tab is safe
Dr. AMRITA MALLIK
Usually folic acid supplementation should be started form the time u take the decision to concieve or plan for the baby, at least 3 months before conception. Earlier such supplementation was not necessary but the dietary habbits of the urban working woman has changed a lot and is dependant on take aways or home delivered food boxes which is not balanced which most of the time results in low folic acid, vit b12, iron stotes in the body itself. Pregnancy demands these nutrients in the beginning. Deficiency of these nutrients will lead to a defective neural tube formation.
Dr. AMRITA MALLIK
Shilpa u can ask her about starting folic acid and gestofit has been prescribed to support ur pregnancy and prevent any chance of miscarriage this time.
shilpa
Thanks Amrita g...tomorrow i have an appontment for taking supplement injections pubergn5000...then i ask to start folic acid
Dr. AMRITA MALLIK
Since the uterus gets heavier back pain is inevitable. But if a mom to be is active and excersicing regularly her body will b prepared for this weight lifting. Once pregnant the back ache can be handled with light oil massage, hot water bags, extra pillows, adequate rest, walking and pre natal spinal excersices, and yoga.
