Why I made the switch to diapering and then back to Langots!?

Inspired by a lot of research and good advice from my buddies Rebecca Prakash and others here, I tried exclusive diapering for my Siddy, a week back.

What I expected?

1.Lesser worry of wetting clothes

2.More time to finish some other stuff around the baby

3.Lesser cleaning mess

4.Lesser laundry

What I actually got?

1.More worry of checking up diaper for poo

2.Lesser time to rest as a result of constant panic that he has pooped

3.Lesser laundry was the only real expectation

I tried Pant style diapers that were good but only for outings.

I tried nappy pads that Sonam patel taught me to use but weren't happy after a couple of days since the poop stuck to cottony gel on to Siddy's skin and I got miserable.

Finally, after all the experiments, I have chosen to go with just langots, give in time to change and clean. Hired a maid to wash them on time and dry too. Therefore, for now until he is one month and more, I'll not start my experiments with diapering.

These views are my own and perhaps I need to learn more as I go, to ace the diapering trick.

Will await your inputs ladies. #kolkatamoms #babychakramoms #babychakrafamily #diaperissues

This is good. I didn’t use diapers till 6 months except outings. Yes a good support system is required for constant washing of nappies and baby sheets .

Yes I guess unless the poop pee frequency is under control and more routine, there's no point of a diaper. It's the same as langots if they need instant change. Neha Vij

I had also use langots for my son in starting months. He was very comfortable in langots n my Mil was against the use of diapers till 6 months. She made about 100 langots by herself at home.In Punjab there is a tradition that langots are made from bade bujurg ki sheet like my dadaji use to wear dhoti n shirt. So my Mil used his dhoti n made langots from it. We wash them seapartely n dry under sun. After 6 months to till now i use diapers only during outing.

I always use nappies or langots in day time and diaper him at night so that we both can sound sleep. Never felt like using diaper him day. It feels good to see him playing freely though I also have to manage most of the things by my own. I used to rinse them with water so that they don't smell that bad 😉 and then Clean them in machine.

I can't imagine how i am going to wash those pooped langots!

Yep Sania Bhushan the tradition exists across all out Punjabi households but I have started using store bought langots after the initial 6 days of bade buzurg wale cloth ke langots.

Yes Mrs Chhoker it's tough doing all alone. I've got liquid cleanser from LuvLap that works like magic

Thanks Vidya Rathod I have been trying to text u too but not going through..some network issue.

Oh you will soon manage. Even I said I can't wash can't handle.. now am doing it all with pleasure. Motherhood does funny things to you AMRITA MALLIK

You try napi pads till 3 to 4months it wont hurt them

Nappy pads by 3-4months right? Not now? sindu

No no up to 3 to 4 months now you can use napi pads after 3 to 4 they starts turning and all no after you cant use. You can fix to langouts only,

You can firstcry , amazon and all you will get reall helps you . i tried it my twin daughters

I got them but not working well

AMRITA MALLIK dont worry let the baby arrive and you will come to know all the hidden super powers you have 😂😂😂😂

I also use Langots except for going out and nights..have ordered pant style diapers..do they soak pee? How often do u change dem? Satarupa B Kaur

Pant style tried Premium wale Pampers ka, they good. .i used when going out. . They soak well for sure. 4 hours u may keep on for pee but poo needs immediate change or change asap KritiVika

Mrs Chhoker fingers crossed!

If baby poops in sleep overnight and I miss it, for say 2 or 3 hours, and leave the diaper unchanged, is that a problem?? Rebecca Prakash ritu singhal

Satarupa B Kaur yes it is a problem coz he can have skin infection and rashes. But gernally babies do cry after pooping(most of them)

He cries but not always. That's the issue Mrs Chhoker

Then you have to be careful in night thank God adhi never poops while sleeping and he used to poop in 4-5 days. It was big relief

Only in the beginning they poop often Satarupa by 3 months it will become less, especially night time. Well Atarah always makes sounds and cries a lot so first thing I will check is her diaper. Anyways you are feeding him in the night na so keep checking.

Yes .. I punjab mostly ppl use handmade langots... evn; my son tym my mil made lot's of langots.. which now I m using fr my little one also...n use diaper only during outing.

I use diaper for my baby at night and while going out. Mee too use langots and normal pants during daytime. and Rebecca said it right, that by 3 months no. of pooping becomes less.

Btr it is n logical

I am afraid if you get the time to sleep in night for 2-3 hours with a newborn. Make sure you apply coconut oil nicely with every diaper change. Siddy should be fine. 👍
