#care  during pregnancy 


Due to pregnancy there are few changes that occur. The size of the breast, nipple and areola increases. The colour of the nipples and areola darkens. Sometimes the nipples can be bumpy. Breast can be painful which is normal. From 6th month of pregnancy, breast is capable of producing milk. Sometimes few drops may leak from the breast which is normal. After the delivery, the levels of pregnancy hormones fall in the body and when baby starts sucking, milk secretion starts.


There are some DO’s and DONT’s to follow in pregnancy :


Do’s;:


1. Have regular Antenatal check ups.


2. Proper breast and nipple examination to find out flat/retracted nipples and if present to be treated from 7th month onwards.


3. Use of mild soaps and wear comfortable clothing.


4. Application of coconut oil for cracked nipples.


DONT’s :


1. Do not over massage/stimulate nipples.


2. Avoid using anything that dries the skin like excessive washing or harsh soaps.
