Honey, ginger, cloves and black pepper are the main ingredients. Grind all the solid ingredients and extract it in juice form. Mix it with honey and make them drink a spoonful twice daily.
Children don’t enjoy this taste very much as all the ingredients have extreme tastes. Also remember that this should be given in limited quantity as this is hard to digest for small kids.
Honey should not be given to babies below 1 year of age. We are well aware of the antibacterial properties of honey which treats sore throat and cure infections. So, toddlers above one year can be fed honey.
Ginger has anti-inflammatory properties which may ease a dry or asthmatic cough also relieving nausea and pain.

Warm water is good for their sore throat, so if you want to mix honey with warm water that will reduce their pain a lot.
It is better to offer water to them every hour or two but do not force them to drink. Hot or warm beverages like soups or clear broths, warm fruit juices can be comforting and give immediate relief to them.
3. Steam inhalation Wet cough or chest congestion can be improved with steam. Hot bath with steam filled in the bathroom can help them. As the small kids can’t inhale steam from vaporizer so try to make them sit near a bowl full of hot water. At least they should be able to inhale a little bit of steam.
You can also add a bit of essential oils like eucalyptus or rosemary as it helps in easing cough. But always get in touch with the doctor before using it as not all oils are safe for toddlers.
4. Massage Massages work best for toddlers below two years of age. They really enjoy and get relief from muscle aches during sickness. A nice mix of mustard oil with garlic is ideal massage oil for baby’s whole body specially chest and back. A gentle massage on the feet and palm with this oil before sleep is of much help.
