A quick tip : to avoid flat head syndrome in babies.

I want to share this tip as I had faced this flat head issue with my child . But thankfully I became alert before it was too late and we could escape this syndrome.

👼Flat head syndrome in babies -
Till the time babies start rolling their heads properly in all directions, it is advised that it is taken care of that they do not lie on one particular side during feeds and sleeping. As the skull is very delicate in initial months, it gets flattened easily on that particular side. So to balance it , either keep a check to keep the head straight or both sides of the head are used in equal manner for sleeping or feeding to balance.
👩‍👦So moms who are using the side lying position to bf pls ensure the kid is not lying just on one side all the time.
👶You can also use Mustard/rai pillow for newborns as it helps in making rounded heads as the pressure from the pillow is not exerted on baby’s head due to presence of mustard seeds.
#mycase - my son was only comfortable with the side lying position during feeds and so was I. As a first time mother I was not aware of these issues and my baby used his right side to turn to me always to take the feed. It was a comfortable position for me as well. And only after a month or so, when he was around 3 months we realised that he was getting flat headed at the right. And the cause was in front of us . It was then I started making him turn to his left during the feeds to balance the head. And thankfully since the skin was still soft and mouldable , feeding him for another 3 months using his left- it became proportional and balanced. For some weeks I was so mad to see him in such shape due to this small negligence.

Therefore I request all my fellow moms to be vigilant during first 6 months and make the child use both the sides of the head equally for sleeping and feeding .
