One of the most important aspect of parenting is teaching 🙋life skills🙋 to our kids. For me teaching my daughter 'responsibility’ tops the list !

👧I don't want her to feel entitled to a service or expect others to do it for her...so I started early. She is learning not to depend on us all the time and try to do things for herself ! 👨‍👩‍👧As Indian parents, we pamper the “aape-aape” chant of the kid but kind of lovingly do every little thing for them . 👨‍👧I intentionally let her do chores when she wanted to and that means cleaning the house as early as 1.5 years..folding clothes at two and carrying her utensils to the sink at 2.2 ! 🚸Surprisingly, you are teaching them an attitude and they feel very confident afterwards.

Some takeaways for raising a responsible kid ✡️“DO IT TOGETHER” ✡️;watch how their smiles widen as you invite them to help in the household chores . Trust me they feel valued when you hand over the duster . It might take an hour where it would have taken minutes but your patience today is making them responsible and confident for tomorrow. ✡️“Show her How” ✡️it always helps when we do the most common things like picking up a fruit from the fridge and washing it before handing it to the kid . Do it once informing her how she is supposed to do from the next time... when she asks for another apple, simply tell her to take one as mama did ! It will take time, you might be needed initially but trust me it works wonders . ✡️“Put words to acts”.✡️ While doing the most ordinary stuff like putting her dirty clothes in the laundry basket or folding her washed ones, say aloud the process “ we now fold them this way and put them in your almirah “ just a small change and you'll see how these dmartheads pick up the process and help the next time .

✡️“ACKNOWLEDGE”✡️Those cheers, claps and love hugs when she completes a work herself are the currency kids love ! When we appreciate children they feel loved and valued and relate responsibility to happiness which goes a long way

The most important thing to keep in mind that they are still babies and overdoing might make them tired or irritated.

Start early since children are most receptive when you'd and routines help them learn well
