Whenever you get cravings for sweet you can opt for having a small piece of jaggery or 2 pieces of fresh dates you will feel better with the same.

Cutting the carbs completely is not a good option. The right way is to eat healthy but in right portions to reduce weight. Reducing excess carbs is one of the solutions.
