As a Speech Language Therapist I get to meet so many kids who have already spoken their first true word or are about to utter their first word. What was your baby's first word? Or what do you want your baby's first word to be?

@616d5263791e5a0013a04aa4 , the best way to help your baby create language and words is to talk to him. so take all possible opportunities to speak, while bathing, massaging, dressing up , feeding, on a walk, or even while diaper changing. The more your baby listens to your loving words, the more his chances of using words will increase. You should also start reading simple books to him. Give opportunities to him to express himself. Ask simple yes/no questions and answer them for him. Go slow. Repeat words often. Give choices. Sing songs. Play simple games like peekaboo, bubble popping, Round and round the garden. Good luck!

@63713f4617d2c800158d383d . it's true that babies tend to utter bilabial sounds ( those which need both lips for production, -- b,p,m) But speech acquisition depends a lot on the different speech sounds the baby is exposed to. And it is language specific. So if in your language mumma has another word, your child found it easier to say baba which has bilabial sounds.Another example can be a French baby whose first word can be 'chien' ( meaning Dog) and chien has no bilabial sound in it. So frankly speaking it varies from one family and culture to the other.
