As amazing as it is, becoming a parent for the first time has its challenges. Yes, your new baby rocks -- but your life as a new mom might be a little rocky. Wherein the whole family is immensely celebrating the presence of the new born, a new mother is just having the mixed feelings about it. But did anyone think,;WHY?

Why the mother who has been desperately waiting for the 9 long months for the arrival of her little love, suddenly starts having mixed feelings after that arrival.
Unfortunately the answer is "NO" in most of the cases. Nobody tries to understand, what all thoughts the new mother is going through from.
Because the thinking of our society is: Oh, it's nothing new that you have delivered a baby. That's just what every other woman is doing on this earth since ages. People just forget that every woman on this earth is different from another and can have different feelings after giving birth.

Everyone around her is just so curious to meet the NEW BORN, to observe the things about NEW BORN, to come and play with the NEW BORN and the list goes on..;

This is when the mother starts feeling the loneliness even after surrounded by so many people at home.;She starts thinking she has lost literally everything including herself for this baby;and it's the time when a state of mind comes called;POSTPARTUM;DEPRESSION.;

Yes, this feeling is real. PPD is real. And it is caused by a variety of factors including hormonal changes, lack of support, poor relationships with partner or family members, traumatic birth and various other circumstantial reasons.

The symptoms of PPD can be different for different mothers.;

✓Feeling tearful, frustrated, or sad all the time.

✓ Inability to bond with your baby.;

✓Feeling lonely even in the presence of others as mentioned above.

✓ Needing to withdraw yourself from other people and the world around.

✓Getting frightening thoughts, e.g. harm to yourself or your baby

✓Feeling tired and lacking energy all the time.

PPD is still not widely spoken about, recognised and addressed and many women may not realise that they are affected by it. It's most important to address PPD and there are several ways to do it like:

✓The first step is to analyse and acknowledge that you’re affected by it.;;

✓ Reach out and speak about it with someone, be it your partner, a family member, friend or doctor - share your mental load.

✓ Find ways of self-care, this is very important for mental health. Do whatever makes you happy, never leave your interests.

✓ Leave your child with family, friends, or whatever suits you as per your comfort if needed.;

✓ Don’t hesitate to ask for help be it for yourself or for the baby. For eg. childcare from your partner, other family members or appoint domestic help.

✓ Try to go outdoors as often as you can with/without the baby.

✓ Try to get adequate rest and nutritious food.;

✓ Consider consulting a mental health professional who can offer counselling, therapy and recommend a course of treatment.;

✓Most of all, be gentle with yourself, remember that parenting gets better with time and experience.

✓Do understand that it is not something that you have caused or invited upon yourself.

PPD can pass in weeks, months or even longer if not addressed. So please take some positive steps if you suspect that you or any of your loved one is suffering from it.;

Please pass this information to anyone you know is a new mother or an expecting mother, so they can make an informed decision. I would be more than happy if I could contribute to make someone's life a little better in the moment of need🤗
