7 BEST WAYS TO BEAT THE HEAT NATURALLY
Already feeling the heat in March? Here are some of the best ways to stay cool.
- Have plenty of Fruits as the first meal in the morning and as a snack in the evening. This will not only keep you energetic throughout the day,but is far healthier than stuffing cereals or hot chai down your throat, which land up making you feel slow and sluggish.
- Eat Greens. There is nothing like a refreshing cucumber to instantly cool yourself. This is the perfect time to eat more salads or steamed foods rather than cooked or fried meals. Cut down on concentrated grains, dairy, meats and cereals, to unclog your cells and stay quenched from within. And sweat less.
- Tantalising foods such as ice-creams, cold drinks, etc. surely give an illusion of coolness, yet actually don’t really cool you down but make you feel more parched, dry and thirsty.
- Avoid the afternoon sun. There’s a reason why animals naturally stay indoors in the afternoon sun. The best way to stay cool is to align yourself with Nature, have meetings/appointments in the morning before 12 pm or after 4 pm.
- Don’t avoid the sun completely though, it is essential to our wellbeing, fitness and alertness. Early morning or evening sun is a great time for a walk, light exercise or even meeting up with friends outside in the fresh air. The more sun you take in during the day, the better you will sleep at night.
- Rest a lot. Our bodies will tend to naturally feel hotter, slower, and drowsier. This actually indicates we need to rest, and switch off, to cool down and bring our body back to balance...and not to drink a lot of water or substitute with chai/coffee. Remember, the water our body needs is mineral rich, filled with nutrients (found naturally in fruits/veggies/greens/ sprouts),which our body can instantly utilise.
- The mind needs rest too. Rest is not equal to playing games, watching TV or chatting with friends. Focussing on the breath- Breath Awareness, is a great way to turn off our constantly chattering mind, which will indeed keep you calmer...and thereby cooler.
Physical, digestive, mental, and emotional rest will keep you cool and relaxed even through the hottest of days.
