question
At my wits end sometimes trying to understand the best way to deal with my 2 year old who suddenly turns violent and starts hitting kicking with his bare hands and feet or using a toy to hit you.
This is usually brought on by someone correcting him if he's doing something wrong or if someone just interrupts his play..
My husband and in-laws urge me to whack him but I'm not convinced it's the right approach although I must admit I have given him a hard whack on many occasions.
What is the right approach to calm him down and correct him???

OMG!! i have similar issues ... its jus suddenly he gets this renewed energy and needs to vent in some sort of physical way .. either hitting slapping jumping on me.. at times though if it gets tooo much i do whack him or scare him depending on how badly he has behaved . best way to avoid it is dont react ... or try diverting his attention.. alao now ive told ny aon to hit the pillow everytime he feels angry . try it .

20 month old still manageable. this guy is 2.5 years and can pack quite a hard punch

i am also going thru the same phase. i have a 20 month old at home. when the child hits u, gently say, no, that hurts. .. dont over react just keep subtle.
