" TO WEAR OR NOT TO WEAR"
Most of us would have heard from our mom or inlaws that wearing a bra will affect the milk supply, even I got a whole Gyan from my mother in law when she saw me wearing one right after my delivery. She was very sure that it is going to affect my milk supply and that is not a good idea.
Firstly, It is a big myth. The RIGHT NURSING BRA does not interfere in milk supply.;
I had a discussion with my doctor before delivery itself and she suggested that one should wear maternity / nursing;bra as it helps to support the breasts to prevent back pain and even reduces stretch marks.;
Wearing a bra or not is strictly a personal choice. If you decide to wear one, then read on...
The benefit of using a Nursing Bra;
1) Gives good support to the heavier breast, so no saggy boobs later.
2) Cup size is bigger to cover the entire breast.
3); No underwire which can dig inside the skin, and makes you uncomfortable.
4); Very soft and breathable material, so helps when the nipples are sore.
5) Detachable cup, to feed baby which is more convenient especially in public places
6) Less Leakage of milk ( which can be so uncomfortable and messy)
Below are some points to keep in mind while investing in Nursing / Maternity Bra.
1) Please do not use the regular underwire bra as it can be uncomfortable.
2) Invest in a good quality well-fitted nursing bra, so that your skin can breathe.
3) Go for two sizes up as once the milk supply starts the same size won't fit or it will be tight.
4) See that the bra gives full coverage and also the straps are thick so that it can support the breast well.
4) Invest in at least 3-4 colors and different brands to see which works, purchase it when you are around 34-36 weeks so you can wear them and see how comfortable they are.
5) Check options and try them before purchasing, If buying online read reviews.
6) Purchase at least 4-5 bra as initially the breast leaks, so you need to change it often.
I hope this article helps to answer your questions for;wearing a bra during breastfeeding (If you decide to wear one),;I would love to hear your experiences!;
