BEING THANKFUL! How many times do you wake up in morning, thinking about the long day that is in pipeline and think "phew, I have to do so many things!"??? My share of learnings about counting life's blessings began early at home. My Mumma never complained of anything difficult that life offered her. She had effortlessly taken care of my physically handicapped, cerebral palsy strucken brother for 13.5 years. She has so much gratitude that a week before my brother passed away, he took about 3 steps on his own, walked for the first time without a support, and when he died she was thankful that at least he could walk before leaving me! The learnings don't stop here, my 2.5 year old niece was visiting us, we had just got our home renovated it was freshly painted. One evening my niece took a crayon and scribbled on the wall, everywhere possible, I was furious, she had spoiled a freshly painted wall, my mumma's reaction to this was that only houses with kids can enjoy such a sight, be thankful to God that we have a little playful kid who can do this! She politely explained to my niece that you are a good artist let us do this on a sheet of paper and not walls. Her sense of gratitude always surprises me!! I often tell her how life is unfair and demanding and she always replies back that you should be thankful for what you have because not everyone is as blessed. Whenever I tell her that my husband is so irritating she tells me that her maid's husband is an alcoholic and he beats her blue and black, and then she says you should eb thankful your husband is so loving and caring and he fulfill all you demands! She says the more you give gratitude to the universe the more universe returns it back in form of blessings! And now I have reduced my complaints, I am learning to be a little more thankful, because I am blessed that I get to do so many things that others are not blessed to do. WHAT IS YOUR GRATITUDE STORY?
