Sheeba Vijesh i know soo many parents who themselves cant read or write their mother tongue but dont think abt it or bother yo teach their kids..coz the kids r fluent in English
it breaks my heart to see the depletion of the entire culture tht revolves arnd our mother tongue- no regional language newspapers in the house, no magazines, dramas, no one to read holy books ay festival time etc
im glad tht there r so many on this platform who realise tht need to know vernacular languages

thank you for putting it in a different perspective @616d51e8ca67e40013aa9222 ... right you are... but the tag line is a bit too much, found it funny... i myself live in a bit interior area. here, parents prefer to send kids in CBSE schools, so that kids learn English. the funny thing is most teachers are not so fluent themselves, ending up teaching children grammatically wrong sentences. the kids learning in these schools end up with little knowledge of English as well as native language.

i am strongly fr teaching kids their mother tongue.
these kind of ads are targetted at a different kind of audience. fr parents who dont speak English, but want their kids to go to an english medium school etc as for them learning English means better schools colleges n better prospects fr jobs n marriage n so on...
we take offence at such ads but fr a lot of ppl (mums) its an opportunity to do tht extra bit fr their child..
i just thought of adding my thoughts on how ppl frm different socioeconomic background perceive English to b more than a language. things we take fr granted r a struggle fr many, learning English being one of them
