Bonding with your newborn can be sometimes difficult but to some people, it comes naturally.
But you can always learn how to make that bond with your baby stronger than ever.
When you are connected with your baby both physically and emotionally, it leads to attachment.
Babies usually form this kind of attachment with the main caregiver, and mainly for them, it will be their mother.
So, whoever the person is, if the person is involved in the caregiving process and is building an unconditional relationship, then for that person it is easy to bond with that baby.
Of course, mothers have a different and most important place, but very commonly it is observed that households with equal parenting establish a good bond with the baby for both the parents. 
Some other ways to bond with your newborns are, smiling, responding to their cooing, putting them to sleep, making eye contact with them joyfully, playing with them etc.
 
So, these are some ways you can try and have a better connection with your baby.
