🤱🏽 Breast milk is preventive care in every drop. The microbiome is the population of microorganisms 🦠 in the body. A healthy microbiome indicates that the ecology favours good bacteria over pathogenic bacteria. This seeding with good bacteria happens first during a vaginal birth 👶 and then through the breast and breastmilk. Exactly which microorganisms the infant is exposed to depends solely on the species found in the mother. ⭕️ Microbiome plays various important roles like 💪🏼how well a person can fight diseases and infections, 😩how a person regulates anxiety, mood, emotions, cognition and pain as well as 🔻reducing the risk of chronic diseases like asthma, obesity, allergies, dermatitis and IBS. However just like the threat of global warming, we now have to take collective responsibility to avoid preventable C-sections and support moms to breast feed. 💖 I have rarely met a Mom who has told me that she chooses not to breastfeed. And If she chooses not to breastfeed I completely support her choice. But if she wants to and is unable to because it's too painful or too hard she needs the right medical advice and all the community support 💕 What can we do right?
