Can anyone tell me is exclusively breastfeeding necessary for newborns?? Cuz my baby is not able to suck properly when I feed her but easily latches with the bottle and drinks formula milk well. While breastfeeding she sucks few times and falls asleep and remains hungry. If I only breast feed her she wants to suck every half and hour because she remains unsatisfied and this really hurts my nipples.

It's just the beginning, latching is the only way to improve milk supply ..The baby is learning. Stop the bottles immediately. Until six months exclusive breastfeeding is important. Once they start getting used to bottle they will never suck and latch...Mothers produce enough milk for babies if they are latched properly. All cries are not cues for hunger baby is new to the atmosphere, they getting settled...Not that you need to match frequently, cuddling will help them feel better. Please stop bottle and latch...
Yes it is very important to breastfeed the baby exclusively till 6 months. Baby is just 1 week it takes time to latch, keep trying. And please stop the feeding bottle right away , this will worse the situation. Bottle will create colic because while suckling more air goes inside which will result in stomach pain. Keep latching the baby, you can watch lot of YouTube videos on latching. Till that time use spoon and bowl to feed formula.
