Food is a common choking hazard and kids are more vulnerable to a choking incident as their chewing and swallowing skills are not yet developed properly.
To minimize the risk try keeping certain food items off limit:- ** nuts, seeds and dried fruits ( ground it and make a powder to give them). ** hard candies or gums ** large pieces of food. ** fruits with seeds ( remove seeds from fruits and cut it in half before giving them) ** popcorn ** raw vegetables ( steam those veggies cut into thin slices or small pieces before giving them) ** chips or any crunchy or hard food.
Also make sure:- ~ to feed your baby in an upright sitting position. ~do not feed while playing or running around the house. ~offer small pieces at a time. ~make sure they have swallowed before offering another bite. ~give small bite sized or thin sliced pieces as finger foods. ~keep an eye on them when they are self feeding. ~avoid feeding in car.
Some other objects you should keep out of reach from your child are:
** coins **marbles **toys with small and removable parts ( always give them age appropriate toys and check for all parts / loose buttons / screws etc) **small balls **batteries ( make sure the batteries are screwed in properly) **any medicine **beads or pins
Make sure to get down at your child's level and put away things that you feel might be dangerous. A few simple precautions can go a long way.
*** In case your child is choking let them cough it will help clear their airways and remove an obstruction. If your child continues to struggle Lay your child face down, along your forearm. Use your thigh or lap for support. Hold their chest in your hand and jaw with your fingers. Point the head downward, lower than the body. Give up to 5 quick, forceful blows between their shoulder blades to help remove the obstruction. Don’t put your hand or finger in their mouth as it may move the obstruction further back. Be calm and be safe.
Must know info for every parent... Choking is a hazard and it can happen anytime and anywhere to anyone specially toddlers... But sometimes it's just that we are not ready to act instantly because our emotions are high and thought process slow... I'm trained in first aid but dimaag kaam nhe karta hai tym pe 🙄🙄🙄

Yes @616d52a48054f30013c57a47 I too feel that's scary. We hear lots of cases where baby looses even his/her life due to choking. We need to be careful... This is actually a much needed post.
