#ChoosingSchool#AstroRoopa My daughter started talking early and doing things early. That have forced me to think about school too early. But joined her as usual.; I was been a punctual kid and love school. When my baby turned 2yrs, my hunt for right school for her started. School is the second home and teachers are just like mothers in the budding years of school. So a right school matters a lot. Here are few tips for moms who are looking for school.
People will start thinking about schools for 2 main reasons. 1. Working woman need to join her work back and at home noone to take care of.
- In this condition, Good school with Daycare is a good option; than hiring a nanny at home.; Most of the playschool / montessori have daycare. Right from the age of 10 months they will take in kid. ( Usually when the baby can able to sit on their own.) 2. They want the kid to start the school as parents think its the right time to send. - once kid turns 1.10yrs you can opt for Playgroup. Playgroup is before nursery. Not mandatory for kids. If kid is shy, have some anxiety issues, problem being social. PlayGroup is perfect. There it wont be much serious teaching. They mostly learn to share and play. Care for friends.; Be away from their parents and home. And various activity is quite fun. (I dint joined my girl for playgroup. As I was taking care of her and i was teaching her with daily some activities along with playing with kids. ) - Some even joing kids directly to LowerKG. Its their personal choice. But i feel..a year of nursery before LKG is required. Depending upon school from 2.6yrs onwards they take in for Nursery. That whole year they will learn things in ease, without much pressure. Kids routine will be set and moms too can relax. Some prefer to skip nursery and join Lkg directly. If you are thinking so...make sure to teach some basics by yourself and also alphabets, numbers. Without any knowledge...it will be a pressure on them.
* what ever age you choose to join your kid for school.; Make sure the kid is ready for it. Before handedly keep telling the kid, that school is fun. They can make good friends. They can play and learn. Show some of your old school snaps to create interest in them. *Always join Montessori or playschool than main school. These Montessori even though have a small setup, its perfect for toddlers. Kids-teacher ratio will be less. Environment will be homely. They are not too strict. Even if kid is late or absent...they dont be strict. Personal attention will be more. Anyhow after 6yrs..kid should study in main school. Let kids too have fun in their tender age. * Talk to your friends and; neighbours as which school their kids are. While looking what all schools they visited. Why they chose the present school over the other. * Google schools " near me" and also can search in Just dial. Both have reviews in it. Make a list of school which you consider.; * Try to find out the listed school in Facebook. Most of the school will have a page or group. You can see various activities, snaps, reviews there. * Visit the listed school personally. Most of the Playschool or montessori are ready to interact any time. Make the first visit on week day unnoticed without any appointment, when kids are there, saying that... you just saw the school board outside and wanted to check. So that you can gauge the environment. Whether kids are happy or not. Can discuss fee, timing, their method of teaching...etc. And if you feel good. Further fix one more appointment to check classrooms and other things. ( Most of the school wont allow you during school hours to check class rooms. ) * Check how long they are into school business. Prior experience with kids is a must i feel. If the owner of the montessori will be there all the time..that school is preferred than any other coordinator or someone else running. Simple reason.. people who owns the school take utmost care regarding safety and quality of teaching. If some other employe is taking care of the setup. They may or maynot be too much concerned. * Do the school building have proper light and ventilation. * Check the classrooms. Check with teachers. Check bathrooms, kitchen and playarea. Check with Helpers. *Check the staircase, switches and other thing for child proofing. * Check if they will take special need kids. If so..do they have shadow teacher for that kid. * Talk with the teachers and see how patiently they can talk to you and how clear they are about the teaching. Main thing.... check the teacher's; accent and pronunciations, coz... thats from whom your kid is learning and will try to copy. * Check the helpers are clean and their nails are trimmed.; Hygienic conditions are the top priority. * while deciding school consider the distance, approach; as how many route to reach the school, nearby public transport are available, is it an abundant deadend road, nearby any emergency clinic or hospital. * I always suggest, either drop or pickup of kid should be done by parents or family members. In that way.. you can keep contact with school. You get to know other parents, baby's calssmates. Orelse.. after admission or some other function...interaction with school will be through diary.
