CO-SLEEPING with Baby !!!!

Co-sleeping is when the mother and the child sleep in the same bed in close proximity. I have always been a solicitor for sharing the bed with the baby. When I had my baby, I was sure that I would choose to co-sleep. Many of my friends were in the favour of sleeping in different bed as the baby but somehow I did not want to do it.

I can enumerate several benefits of co-sleeping. Firstly, it is a great way to bond with the baby and I did not want to give it up on account of little discomfort. In the initial days, it was easier to nurse my baby and to soothe him when he was uncomfortable or couldn’t sleep as I was sleeping right beside him. Also, I loved cuddling with Vedaant as it gave both of us a sense of security. I did not have to worry about him at night thinking if he slept okay.

My nights were peaceful as I did not worry about him crying either as I was in the same bed as him and could soothe him whenever needed. Eventually, both of us were able to have a comfortable good night’s sleep.

I recommend co-sleeping or at least bed-sharing to my friends. As I see its benefits are many and it helps build an emotional bond between a mother and her child. I could nurse him without having to get out of bed as he was sleeping with me. Moreover, it is a parenting practice that has been a part of our culture since times immemorial. That’s because mothers knew that it entails not only well rested baby but also relaxed mother. It is a great way to strengthen mother-child bond. I advocate co-sleeping at least the initial few years of the baby. I’m glad that I chose co-sleeping in our home.
