Becoming new parents is anyways a difficult thing to handle and to top it if the baby has colic then it really becomes a nightmare. Also many a times when parents struggle to find the reason for a babies incessant crying or not feeding or sleeping, the culprit is actually colic. So, here in the image are a few Symptoms which can help you recognize it and few remedies which can help avoid or reduce Colic episodes and also give the baby some initial treatment. Later one can Consult a doctor for appropriate medication.

Few Quick things to do are:

1. Cuddling the baby and giving a warm compress on stomach area helps.

2. Make a paste of hing and warm water and apply around babies naval area in circular motion.

3. Babies usually stretch their legs when they feel pain in stomach. Folding their legs gently by turning at knees and moving towards the stomach helps release gas which gives them relief.

4. Burping the baby well after each feed, with patience, even if it takes 15 -20 minutes and giving tummy time helps avoid colic episodes from happening.

5. Experienced people say that Breastfeeding mom's Should include ajwain in their diet to avoid colic issues in babies.

6. Making the right mix of formula feed i.e. right mix of water and powder as per babeis age, through consultation with the doctor helps avoid colic episodes.

7. Last but not the least there are medications like colicaid, colimax etc available which can be taken through doctors advice.

So, dear new parents, handling a new born baby with colic is tough but it's a phase which gets over in some time. Patience and mutual support from both partens and other family members is the key to handle it.

Exactly true.I have faced this problem for the 6 months.Actually my son was very colicky n i had showed him so many doctors, all said that it will take atleast 6months for baby to free from colic n it happens.I tried above all the methods like applying hing paste, stretching legs, add ajwain n saunf in my diet, medicines like colicaid, piptal. As @616d9126ca67e40013aaf3e5 say it is a phase that gets over in some time n it will over.Patience n support of family members require to handle this.
