Cooking is one of the most valuable life skills that we should teach our kids, it helps them understand the importance of nutrition and will help them to never be hungry and be self-sufficient to cook and eat.
Let us encourage our kid's interest and excitement in preparing healthy and tasty food through age-appropriate kitchen activities.
Kids love helping moms in their daily chores, cooking is an efficient activity to develop their motor skills. We can easily convert their excitement to help into something productive and let them learn and grow at the same time.
We can let our kids learn cooking and growing by starting with the following activities:
Washing fruits and vegetables in a bucket of water or a sink, if your kid can reach it.
Mixing ingredients like easy-to-mix batters and pastes
Wiping washed utensils and cutleries (Under adult supervision)
Cutting cookie shapes out of the dough with a cookie cutter
Sprinkling condiments in salads and other recipes
Brushing oil or butter on the baking pan
Spreading butter, Jam or spreads on the bread slice
These are some ways we can engage our kids initially in cooking and kitchen activities. Kids might learn faster and even learn more advanced activities, just make sure these activities are performed by your kid under your supervision.
