I have a two-year-old toddler who is least engaged in play but I still come out with some DIY activities which would interest him. Even a five minutes play would satisfy me. Slowly they will develop interest and engage more. Here are a few activities which I organise for him. Box of treasure:
if You have a big card box, firm and sturdy make good use of it by filling it with items that would appeal to your child. No need of adding only play toys to it.Your daily household things like a sieve, wooden ladle, steel or silicon glasses etc. Make them remove the items and give them to you, vice versa. Or emptying it or filling it back. You can even place it in a place like a tent where he can go in and come out. 2) emptied cream bottles/tubes:
This activity I do with him when my little cranky master doesn't allow me to dress him up for sleep. I open the bottle/tube and give it to him. He tries to open and close it and by the time he figures it out properly, I am done with my job. Hahaha.
3) stacking or setting things:
Be it the little board books or any disorganised items. Give it to them. For example, my son is more interested to keep the books one upon another. Give a slight demo to them and make them follow you. This activity keeps them engaged most of the time as I have observed. Show them how to organise things and let them follow your lead. Children are good observers so should make good use of it. I also involve him in drying the clothes. His tiny clothes are very easy for him to pick up one by and hand over to me for drying.
Kids are more interested in our work than their toys.
