Do you any of you attend musical concerts or take your children to any? So I have rather low musical intelligence but have been advised by multiple people to play good music to my child. So I am trying to do that somehow.
Today, we have come for a Jugalbandi performance by Pt Ravi Chary (sitar player) & Manas Kumar (violinist). The concert is at a place at an hour's drive from my place but we decided to give it a try. This is our first classical concert with our 4 year old daughter.
What music do you play to your children? Will be helpful for me to know :-)

Ahh...one of my favourite topics. So we play various types of music, right from folk, to Indipop, Hindustani Classical, instrumental, vocal, Coke Studio, Unplugged, gazals, thumri, devotional, jugalbandi, Bollywood Junk, Reggae, Blues .... the list is endless. So for starters, you can start with music of your choice and later expand to other genres. If you like Bollywood then start exploring Coke Studio and Unplugged and so on... At our place, the music is during Lo's playtime, academics, meal times etc. I had taken my lo for her first live Bansuri (Flute) concert when she was 9 months. She had thoroughly enjoyed it. Then on attended many more. But I never forced her to sit thro' the concert. Sometimes we would be at the wings, sometimes at the backof the auditorium and at times just attend for half hr, depending on her moods. So Explore and go with the flow. P. S. Research has shown, Music (listening and/or playing an instrument) is associated with increased verbal IQ. Kuhoo Gupta (The K Junction) had written an article related to this last year.
However, let the child enjoy it.
