Does breast milk gives immense immunity to babies? My son is 12 weeks old (6 weeks premature), my in-laws have got cold, cough and fever, and still they are always around my baby, playing with him and holding him. Is he immuned from catching cold, cough or fever from them. Please tell me what I should do.

Premature infants are born with compromised immunity. It would be best to feed breast milk to the baby. It would be good to practice hygenic practices around the baby as even for a normal term baby the immune system is immature and develops as the infant grows.

Hey Breastfeeding helps build immunity.. but if your in-laws have cold or infection it's better to avoid contact with the baby for sometime ... It's better to be careful..
