Driving to our destination, a few months ago, we happened to pass through this small town in South Karnataka, called Mulki. What caught my attention were these little school children dressed in clean but dowdy uniforms, hair slick and combed, not a strand out of place, talking animatedly while walking to school. Following the kids, we stumbled across their quaint little school that immediately brought memories of RK Narayan's 'Malgudi'. The whole thing was nothing short of walking down the memory lane for me. Tiled roof, colourful walls, innocent happy faces of children and the quintessential school bell itself. Having read and lived RK Narayan's books as a kid, my eyes were suddenly searching for Mani, Rajam and Swami!
Books live with you forever. Encourage kids to read. Happy Saturday!
