Generally moms ask question--that my baby is drooling, why it is so and upto which time period it will stop?? First of all,What is Drooling??
It means drop of saliva uncontrollably from the mouth..We have 6 salivary glands that produce saliva for us and when excess amount of saliva is made, drooling occurs.Drooling is normal in the first two years of baby.Infants donot often develop full control of swallowing and the muscles of the mouth, until they are between 18 and 24 months old .Babies might also drool when the are teething.Beyond 4 years of age, drooling is not normal. The child especially at an older age,can be embarrassed due to the uncontrollable drooling and lead to introverted behaviour during later year.
Actually drooling play an important role in baby's growth. It indicates that the bby's teeth are beginning to grow.Drooling and saliva bubbles are also a sign of physical development in toddlers. They indicate that your is baby through a new period of growth.Drool contains enzymes which are useful for the baby to digest semisolid or solid food when he is four to six months old.
Normal drooling doesnot need treatment of any kind, since it is a normal part of growing up.It needs medical aatention if your child is not a toddler anymore and the drool quantity is significantly large.
