Every family works as a unit when each member contributes his/her bit and shares all the responsibilities equally. Don't you think?
.

Talking about gender inequality, it has penetrated deep within Indian households, so much so that we are almost conditioned to think in a certain way and accept a certain lifestyle that clearly divides the tasks for men and women. (Stats says 52% of men think household chores are a woman’s job and ‘outside’ work is a man’s job). Things need to change and so the mindsets!
.

Taking a step towards bringing this social change Ariel #ArielIndia launched a movement #ShareTheLoad with the aim to remove the ‘stains’ of gender inequality within households. Their recent campaign Sons#ShareTheLoad raises a pertinent question in this direction- Are we teaching our sons what we are teaching our Daughters? While we are teaching our daughters to be independent and strong, are we teaching our sons to learn some basic life skills like cooking or laundry?
.

They held a panel discussion on 7th Feb with actors like Raj Kumar Rao, Tisca Chopra, BBDO Head Josy Paul and Sonali Dhavan, Marketing Director, P&G India, Fabric Care- addressing the issue and sharing personal anecdotes. I was invited by #Babychakra to attend the meet and be a part of an insightful conversation that aims to bring this change. At the end of the event I even got an opportunity to interact with Tisca Chopra and ask her a couple of questions on behalf of the entire Babychakra community.

.

As a parent of both a boy and a girl, I could truly resonate with the campaign. As it is said, change begins at home and literally so. We need to set the right examples before our kids and raise them with a mindset that they are prepared to be ‘equal partners’ in future. After all the onus of raising a #generationofequals lies on us. Isn't it? #EqualUpbringing #themomsagas #genderequality
