Expecting mamas, if you haven’t heard of a padsicle before, NOW IS THE TIME to stock up.
.
I’m not going to lie...when you give birth it will feel like your girl was just hit by a TRUCK. Or a bulldozer. Maybe an MMA fighter’s fist. Okay, I’ll stop. Point is, it’s going to hurt.
.
Padsicles are frozen overnight pads that you can wear intermittently during your first couple days that provide TREMENDOUS RELIEF. Best part: they are totally easy and CHEAP to make.
.
Generally, padsicles are made from overnight pads, witch hazel, lavender essential oil, and aloe vera. BUT, if you’ve already given birth and you need something now, you can use water and nix the other ingredients (not as efficient, but it’ll do in a pinch).
.
Here’s how to make them:
→ Step 1: Unfold the pad carefully. If your pad has wings, save the tabs for later.
→Step 2: Apply witch hazel (or distilled or filtered water) to the center of the pad in a straight line. Saturate the pad, but don’t go crazy.
→Step 3: Apply 1 TBS of 100% Aloe Vera to center of pad.
→Step 4: Apply 1-2 drops of pure lavender essential oil to center of pad. (Personally, I LOVE Simply Earth's Lavender Hydrosol)
→Step 5: Spread aloe vera and lavender oil evenly across pad.
→Step 6: Refold the pad and place it gently in a baggie. Freeze. When you are ready to use the pad carefully unfold it, it will be very stiff. That’s it! Definitely make a few of these. You’ll need to change them out very frequently during the first few days. You’ll probably also need to wear an adult diaper or granny panties since the absorption won’t be fantastic.
