They are low-fat, less salt, less calorie food, usually good sources of potassium, fiber, vitamin C and folate - we all know that.
But making kids have them can be challenging for many parents. As for me, I included mashed bananas and boiled apples in A's diet when he started his solids. Back then it wasn't difficult as he couldn't say NO to what was being fed to him.
But as he grew older, he started refusing to have fruits. I initially tried to coax him, but it didn't help.
However, with time, that changed too.
Sharing with you all what worked best for me-
🍎Involve them in food preparation and planning - let them watch you cut and peel fruits. This creates interest in them.
🍎Enjoy eating fruits with them - Children copy and love doing what we do in front of them.
🍎Presentation - try and place the cut fruits in different shapes to attract them.
🍎Include fruit whenever possible - Try and offer fruits as snack whenever you can. 🍎 Don't stop trying. Have patience and keep offering.
🍎 Encourage but don't force them to have fruits.
🍎 Don't worry about the quantity. Start with small portions and go on increasing slowly.
🍎 If your child prefers drinking juice, making one from fresh fruits can be a great idea.
