Griping a figure is the most commonly seen reflex in newborns. This reflex is most of the time is seen as a fun activity or a way to interact with the baby. But here’s a different angle to it, the benefits of it.
Griping a finger is actually used as an exercise that can help strengthen the muscles, improve their grip as well as help build their reflex ability. It’s also a great way to bond with the baby and play with them.
To make your baby do this exercise:
Make your baby lie on his/her back.
Offer your index finger to your baby and help him/her grab it.
Once your baby grabs the finger, gentle try pulling back your hand.
Repeat this exercise 3-4 times.
For babies above 6 months (after the head is steady), once your baby grabs your finger you can try pulling your hand gently in a way to make your baby sit up. Followed by this gentle drop the baby back to the original position. #babyexercise#seemasays
