Hi Subha , White noise does work to soothe your baby but it is not a sleep aid . It can calm your baby .Try to put him to sleep when he is naturally drowsy watch his sleepy signs. practice this so he can self soothe

I would personally not recommend this... This trick is good to sooth a colicky baby thought... U may try other ways... Make d lights dim, sing for the baby, rock or cuddle the baby

In the womb your baby hears two sounds prominently one is your heart beat and the other is the sound of your blood rushing thru your arteries. This sounds like a whooshing sound and this is the principle which white sound machine works on. You can try hair dryer but it will be rather loud and ideally the white noise has to be quieter.
