#healthyhome#healthythoughts I would like to share a piece of my life here. I was born dark, I am dark and I will die dark. It is my skin tone, it is who I am. The Indian mindset is obsessed with skin colour, and I have been a victim - a victim when my aunt preferred my fairer cousin over me and chose to ignore me, a victim when a dark boy came to 'see'(ladki dekhne) but rejected me because he wanted a fair girl. OK, now that I am trying to count the number of times I was a victim, its just two?😟 So let me count where I was a winner. I was one of the most popular students academically, extracurricular activities wise and due to my personality. I landed plum jobs because of my capability. I went on to marry a handsome guy who looked beyond my skin colour. I am blessed with a loving family and great friends. So where is the skin colour? In the end it does not matter. Why are we obsessed about the skin tone of a 2 week old baby? Then we will buy fairness creams for him/her. Then try out haldi, besan and chandan on them. Scrub their skin with "fairness in just 1 month" promising soaps. Eventually that child will grow up with the thought that skin colour is something that matters. Focus on the baby's health and giving good values in his/her life instead. So, to the world who says I am dark - yes, I am dark... But that does not DEFINE who I am....
