hello experts, my daughter is 3 months old. am worried abt her health. Bcs frm last sm days she is nt ready to latch me. instead of that she likes sucking thumb. n nw days she started thumb sucking despiratly. before 15-20 days my bm got reduced.i have gone through the home treatment for it. she needs thumb while sleeping,otherwise she will nt sleep. we tried all possibilities. even my Mil, husband also tried like mittens, wrapping etc. finally went to doc,he also raised his hands n advices to have patience.n my Mil doesn't want to feed her with formula milk with bottle. so am feeling helpless. pls help me out.
@Dr. Saloni Pahwa am feeding her on demand. Bt nw days she is not having my bm  more than 2 mins.i tried by expressing my milk n fed her by dropper. Bt dat way also she is nt ready to intake. so am worried.<br>

thumb suckimg is absoulty normal and is considred as the first milestone. babies start with their fingers explorimg their bodies. its no way connected to hunger and m sorry to hear that ur doctor didnt advise the same. there is nothing that needs to be done. its a phase which will go away eventually.
as far as bm is reduced - if your baby is peeing 5 times minimum in a day and is gaining weight steadily he is gettimg enough. bm supply WILL NEVER go down unless u have introduced fornula or u r not feedimg regularly.

hi thumb suckling at this age is normal. babies tend to put their hands in their mouths it's part of their development and you should not try to stop it. as for feeding are you feeding your baby on demand ?
