Hello mommies, I am diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes. As prescribed, I am on diet control and was taking 500mg Glycomet twice a day but still the sugar levels were fluctuating. My Endo.(Dr.)than prescribed me take 1000mg Glycomet twice and asked me to monitor my sugar levels 4times a day.As per him if my blood sugar raises simultaneously in two readings, he will start insulin.
My concern is now, is anyone else taking 1000mg Glycomet tab twice a day ? Is there any side effect on babies because of taking such a high dose ?
I am 27 weeks pregnant and expecting twins. Plz Advice & Help. Thanks !

Thanks Dr.Shilpitha, though he did not prescribed 'SR' one. And it was actually 2000mg total in a day which made me anxious.
And as I am monitoring my sugar (4times a day) from last 5days, it shows in 'control' but only ' fasting' one gets bit higher.

Hello...<br>
Glycomet 1000 mg tablet sr restores the body's ability to use insulin, lowering the blood sugar levels. this tablet also decreases the amount of glucose absorbed from food in the intestine and decreases glucose production in the liver.. this medication is safe during pregnancy (no evidence of risk in human pregnancy).. The medication has not been associated with an increased risk of birth defects or complications. Since there is a low risk of complications with metformin, your doctor may encourage continuing use throughout the duration of your pregnancy...
