Hello Mommies, I am here to share my winter favorite recipe that is "Sarso ka Saag".
I am a maharashtrian, so never made or had saag before but after getting married to a Punjabi, I was introduced to this yummy food. Initially when I saw the color, I wasn't that excited to try it but after trying this dish, I loved it and started making myself. Firstly, this is very healthy as there are so many leafy veggies in it and it is tasty too. So I will share my recipe with you all. Ingredients:
Sarso ke patte (Mustard leaves) 1bunch
Spinach Leaves (Palak) 1bunch
Bathau leaves (1 bunch)
Garlic cloves 7-8 finely chopped
Ginger 2-3 tsp finely chopped
Onion 1 whole medium size
Tomato 1 medium size (optional)
Green chillies 4-5
Garam masala 2tsp
Makai ka aata 2tsp ( you can also use regular aata)
Garam masala 2tsp
Salt as per taste
Oil for tadka
Ghee 3-4tsp Method:
First wash both palak , bathau, green chillies and mustard leaves in running water and make sure it has no dirt. Then chop it finely and add in cooker with salt and add half cup water. Now after 6-7 whistle, remove the lid and churn it till u get fine paste. You can use good processor for the same or grinder for the same. Now for taka, take oil let it be hot, add garlic and ginger and fry until golden brown, then add onion and let it fry till turn pink, then add the aata n fry it, then add tomato (it is optional) and fry whole tadka till the oil separates from sides, now add the saag mixture and cook it for 5 mins on low flames then add garam masala mix well and cook for more 1 minute. Now serve it with a spoonful of ghee on top. You can have it with normal phulka, chapati it make di roti.
Enjoy ❤
I hope you all will like the recipe, I fed this to my 10 month old baby with rice n he loved it. 😍
