Hello, mommies sharing a few tried and tested tips to deal with your baby/toddler's constipation problem. Before beginning, I would like to say that going without poop for up to 5 days is normal for a baby or toddler if they are active and without any discomfort.
Going with the tips. Read below: 1)Soaked dried grapes water:
Soak about 5 to 6 dry grapes overnight. Give this first thing in the morning once your child wakes up. It's about 5 to 6 spoons would do. It's not that you should give this only when your child is constipated, can. Give it on a daily basis. 2) Apply castor oil around the anal region.
If your child has gone without poop for a day or two, take Q-tip or with help of your middle finger apply it around that area without much pressure. This helps to loosen up the sphincters and helps in the smooth passage of stools 3) If your baby is over 1-year-old cut down on formula feed and give the solids foods more. Cow's milk can be given once or twice. Continue with breast milk as usual 4) keep a check on the fibrous food intake:
Did you too much intake of fibrous food also causes constipation? Yes. Balance the food properly. For example, don't include palak and beans tighter while serving. Give it one at a time as separate foods. Include moong dhal daily in your child's diet if suffering from constipation. Cut down raagi servings to once a day. 5) Water intake
Don't wait for your child to ask for water. While some kids learn up easily to ask for water or learn how to drink from an open cup some kids give a real tough time for their parents. So offer watery by yourself. It's ok if your child takes it with spoon. Any of the ways is ok. Water should give be after an hour of food intake. Also depends on the weather. Breast milk also helps to keep your child hydrated. Hope these tips help. Thank you.
