I want to know about episiotomy, is this practiced in commonly in hospitals or do we need to ask for it proactively? my SIL has recently gone through a 3rd degree vaginal tear during her natural delivery and is still in recovering condition after 2 months. Pls advice.

Nowadays, every doctor opt for episiotomy to avoid perineal tear.. i dont know why doctor didnt took episiotomy while delivery was going through.. yes tears leads to severe other problems... if you have doubt please discuss with your doctor too and make sure of episiotomy..
