Chances are good that your baby would be fine.<br>
But if you get chicken pox during the first or second trimester, there's a slight risk- lesser than 2% that your baby could get congenital varicella syndrome. The risk is highest if you're infected between weeks 13 and 20. Congenital varicella syndrome is characterized by birth defects, most commonly skin scarring, malformed limbs, an abnormally small head, neurologic problems (like intellectual disability), and vision problems. A baby with congenital varicella syndrome may grow poorly in utero and suffer from seizures as well as physical and mental developmental disabilities. The infection may also increase the risk of miscarriage or stillbirth.<br>
If you come down with chicken pox, you'll have a detailed ultrasound to check for signs of defects or other problems and then have at least one follow-up ultrasound.<br>
keep in mind- risk is very rare.. so wait for anamoly scan.. take care...
