Instead of saying these
-No one is going to play with you -You’re being bad, go straight to time-out! -You are growing naughty! -I’m done with you! -If you hit or raise your hand once again I’m going to be a worst mom! -If you do it again, mom is leaving you all alone! -Why can’t you be like your brother or sister? -I’m going to get a wooden spoon to teach you a good lesson! -You aren’t getting screen time,cookies or chocolates anymore for today!
Try saying these
1.Speak to the feelings - Something has gone wrong and made you really upset, we can talk about it rather than raising your hands! It feels scary to be out of control like that doesn’t it? Relax come to me, a hug will make you feel better!
2.Speak to the need - I know you have been feeling nervous or scared or overly frustrated because of starting school, not sharing things, or any other reason which might be going through in your child. Explain them in a soft tone, it’s okay to feel so but hitting isn’t the way to make your words understand! Sometimes we cannot really put in words about how we feel so our actions speak, its okay mama didnt feel bad!
3.Guide the behaviour - You should come to me or your dad and talk about it rather than hitting or going out of comtrol..right? Let’s try this..try telling mommy this, ‘Mommy I need you!’ or even this ‘Mommy I don’t feel good I need to talk’
Make them understand that situation was bad..you aren’t!❤️
