Although, how you give birth depends on many physical and medical factors, it is always preferred to have a normal delivery or natural birth as it can help you avoid surgery and associated risks. Here are a few tips that helped me in having a normal delivery and I am sure they will help you too:
•Healthy Diet I know all about pregnancy cravings of pizzas, ice-creams and what not, but you have to try to balance it all by including healthy food in your diet. Keep yourself well hydrated as dehydration can reduce amniotic fluid and cause complications.
•Be as Physically Active as Possible Unless advised otherwise by your doctor, try to be physically active as it can help you in having normal delivery. It can also help you shorten your labor. Just don’t overdo it, because proper rest is equally important.
•Say No to Stress Stress levels affect your blood pressure. High stress levels can increase the chances of premature labor.
•Attend Prenatal Classes Prenatal Classes can help you prepare for labor and delivery physically and mentally. You can learn some traditional remedies for back pain, acidity and other common problems of pregnancy along with birthing tips.
•Don’t Pre-plan your Due Date Many people plan their due date before the natural due date according to their convenience. Unless there is a complication which requires premature delivery, full term pregnancy is recommended.
•Choose the right Gynecologist Try to choose a hospital with high rate of normal/natural delivery. If you are not satisfied with your Ob/Gyn then express your concerns to him/her. If you are not happy then don’t hesitate to take a second opinion or change your doctor.
