question
Hey all my baby's paed has asked me to pump my milk and feed her through bottle when required, So I'm planning to do as I'm going to be super busy and I can't be carrying her everywhere. I have few questions so kindly help.
1. In room temperature how long I can keep the milk in the bottle?

2. In case if I'm carrying the milk when we go out how long it be fresh considering the weather (already hot)?

3. If its refrigerated how to I feed her? Way to heat the milk.

4. Ideal time to pump the milk?

Thank you.

hi, Congratulation !! Breast milk cam be kept at room temperature for 6 hours n in our normal fridge for 24 hours. fridge milk needs to be brought to room temperature for feeding by warming it. do this by placing the bottle in warm water. never heat it on gas. ideal time to pump is whenever u get time in between feedings n your rest. do remember u also need rest esp in the first 2-3 months. don't rush to work.; hope this helps.

Hi as per my pediatrician
Bm can be stored at room temperature for one hour as its already getting hot in Mumbai
.Never use microwave to heat the milk.. u have to put the bottle under running water n then keep it in water bath for some time
Ideally bm peaks at 4 in the morning. So u can try pumping in the morning
Hey Becca,here you go..
1. 2-3 hours bm can be kept at room temperature but if its hot, dont keep it outside for more than 2 hrs.
2. If you are carrying bm (its quite a hassle actually, thats why i prefer feeding directly,i have bought feeding stole which is pretty convenient plus you dont have to worry about public shaming), carry an ice bag and a flask with hot water ( flask should be such that you can just immerse bottle in it to bring it at room temp). Its easier to feed formula when outside because you can just carry powder and hot water flask and can prepare milk and feed whenever you want.
3) immerse the bottle in hot water to bring it at room temp
4) after you have fed your baby or when baby sleeps at a stretch for 2-3 hrs, after you fed, pump after one hour..
Hope it helps you!
