If you are confident about massaging the baby, then you can do it yourself. Its also great for bonding with the baby and relaxes baby, i have found my baby sleeping better when massaged. Maalishwalis, on the other hand, may have experience doing baby massages, and you can employ their services for a few days and learn from them, if you don't know how to do it.

Dr Payal, I would want to massage the baby myself. is that advisable or going for a malishwali?

I beg to differ. maalish when done correctly is supposed to be great for neuromuscular development of a baby. it doesn't mean those who dont do it won't develop as much of anything like tht..
in fact I have been told tht even docs abroad r recognising the benefits of a good maalish fr babies. I'll post relevant links when I find a good source.
And if u think abt it..we go for spas n massage etc as it has so many benefits right..

hi preeti...scientifically no logic on maalish for either...it's only for new moms to relax lil...for baby it again calms n relaxes...no logic of bone being strong etc...in foreign countries they don't do it but babies also grow right...
